Supposed To
Words and Music by Jenn Lindsay

There’s so much we’re supposed to feel
that we don’t feel.
What do we do?
Take a shape and cut it out. It’s not perfect.
But the light shines through.

It is foreign territory
every time there’s a new story.
There is no “supposed to do.”
Just me and you. Shining through.

“Supposed to be” is confusing for two people
who think through things.
We get five from two and two.
Does that mean we got more work to do?

It’s not bracing. It’s not bad.
It’s just different than what we’ve had.
If you’re in, then I am too.
Leave the cracks. Let the light shine through.

By now you have figured out I don’t mind risk.
I don’t mind doubt.
I just mind “supposed to do.”
Let’s me and you try something new.
There is no “supposed to do.”
Just me and you, shining through.
There is no “supposed to do.”
Just me and you, shining through.
